It is known for having Uchida_Yorihisa (Uchida_Yosihisa) as the character designer and as being an example of the tentacle rape genre of hentai as well as the eroguro genre. Legend of Lyon Flare was also the first title released by ADV Film's Softcel label. It was followed in 1996 by 新リヨン伝説 漆黒の魔神 (Shin Riyon Densetsu: Shikkoku no Majin, Legend of Reyon: The God of Darkness) and in 1999 by 新リヨン伝説 もう一人のフレア (Shin Riyon Densetsu: Mou Hitori no Flair, lit.
